you didn’t bow down to become a victim...

Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer suffered by women. For the last 25 years, October has been a month designated to Breast Cancer Awareness for the purpose of sharing information and promoting awareness of breast cancer to women.

Nearly everyone knows someone touched by the disease. But there is a lot of good news about breast cancer these days. Treatments keep getting better, and we know more than ever about ways to prevent the disease. Few very important factors that can help you prevent or lower the risk of breast cancer. Not everyone applies to every woman, but together they can have a big impact.

Love Yourself after Breast Cancer

Cancer, in any form, is devastating. Regardless of your age, race or social background, the first step to healing from the inside out is self-love. So many people can tell you look beautiful, but if you can’t look in the mirror and believe it yourself, you’ll never feel it. However, no one tells you how to deal with yourself after you’ve been “cured” …when everyone thinks you’re fine. Truth is, that’s when the hard work begins. Once the parasite is gone and has left behind nothing but devastation, that’s when you have to rebuild yourself from the ground up. From one woman to another, you’re strong enough to do exactly that. You may have been touched by Breast Cancer, but you’re by no means a victim. He may have disfigured you, but you survived, and that’s what’s important.

Living Healthy

Once treatment is over, people who have had cancer ofter want to know what they can do to stay healthy. It’s important to realize that people who have had cancer in the past can still have other health problems. Some may even develop other cancers.

Living a healthy lifestyle is important for everyone – whether you’ve had cancer or not.

A healthy lifestyle includes;

  • Eat Healthy
  • Maintaining a healthy weight
  • Getting physical activity (exercise)
  • Not Smoking
  • Limiting Alcohol

  • Give yourself one more chance

Believe that you deserve to be happy: Without a doubt do you deserve all the happiness in this world. So do more of what makes you happy. Sing more if that’s what you enjoy, or go sky diving if you smile more than you do when you’re steady on the ground. Don’t feel guilty about it either. You deserve to be happy.

    Remember you are still you.

While your body may look and feel different, remember you are still the same person on the inside. Look within yourself and celebrate the person you are.

    Pamper yourself.

You have just recently gone through one of the most challenging ordeals a women could go through. Don’t you think you deserve to treat yourself? You should do what makes you feel good. That could include any of the following: a manicure or pedicure, a facial, a massage or anything else you love!

    Seek support.

Let your friends and family offer love and support. Talk with other cancer survivors about how they coped with changes in their appearance. Seek professional help if needed.
