Detox after Holiday…

If you’ve been feeling tired, cranky, or can’t explain your recent weight gain, these could all be signs you need a detox.

Detoxing is a powerful tool to help reboot your system and when done the right way, they can be a safe and healthy way to boost any weight loss or healthy program.

Here are 4 steps to detox your body and get back on track after an awesome yet indulgent vacation.

1.   WATER

Drinking lots of water is an excellent way to detox after drinking and to fight dehydration! Alcohol acts like a diuretic so it’s essential to replenish your body with water. Water also helps to flush out all the toxins in your system from all the drinks, food, smokes, etc.

Queens Tip:Add fresh squeezed lemon juice, mint, and cucumbers into your water with ice and keep it in the refrigerator. Refill often with this jazzed up, refreshing spa water, which will help you to keep coming back for more.

        2. SWEAT

Exercising might be the last thing on your mind right now but sweating is a great way to detox your body!  You’re not doing these workouts to punish yourself for your “bad vacation behaviour.” No way. You had a great vacation, what’s done is done. Rather than punishment for the past, perform your workouts from the mind-set of wanting to feel your best, from today forward.

Sweating is one of the natural bodies detox and you’ll be back to your normal lean, un-bloated self in no time.

Queensoffer Shirley Conlon Organic Slimming/Anti Cellulite massage (exclusively created for Queens Beauty Lounge) with sauna treatment which helps in fat draining. The sauna helps in opening the cells and penetrating the oil into your body. It helps you lose weight, lower your cholesterol levels and even removes toxins from within your system. It is a fantastic healing and slimming therapy for weight loss and increasing metabolic rate without over exertion.

I know indulging in your favourite fast food might sound heavenly but you’re not going to do yourself any favours with that stuff! Fuel your body with lean protein, fibrous veggies and fruits and try staying away from sweets for a few days too. Sugary sweets are tempting but try to stick to fruits as your dessert while you’re detoxing!

Queens Tip: Eating the wrong types of foods in the morning (especially before 9am), encourages eating larger meals throughout the day, leading to a surge in blood sugar. Such spikes can pave the way for diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol levels - all risk factors that can snowball into a heart attack!  Here are 5 foods that are commonly consumed in the morning hours but should be avoided at any cost. 1. Soy Milk; 2. Margarine; 3. Orange Juice; 4. Whole wheat bread 5. Artificial Sweetener.

         4. RELAX & DE STRESS

Try to avoid adding extra stress to your life or give yourself time to relax while you’re rejuvenating! Stretch, meditate or get a massage as a way to detox after drinking. Do something that you know will help you relax. And try to reduce the amount of stress around you while you’re repairing your body. We all get carried away at times, whether it’s drinking or eating, but luckily there are simple ways to detox and get ourselves back on track!
Queens offer Shirley Conlon Organic Detox massage (exclusively created for Queens Beauty Lounge) which is helpful because of the rhythmic strokes that your therapist apply to stimulate your body.
